Miguel A. Ramirez, MD
Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow, sports medicine, and complex reconstruction.

Dr. Ramirez combines high-volume surgical experience with an engineer’s interest in planning, implant design, and clinical outcomes. His practice spans arthroscopic rotator cuff and instability surgery, anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, revision reconstruction, trauma, and elbow surgery.
Training and perspective
He graduated cum laude from Harvard Medical School, where he was a Doris Duke Research Fellow. His orthopaedic training included Union Memorial Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and the Curtis National Hand Center. He then completed an American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons fellowship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.
His additional experience includes an FDA Medical Device Fellowship, clinical research, national and international teaching, and collaboration in orthopaedic technology development. Born in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Ramirez is fluent in Spanish.
